RollCall is a discovery app for car and motorcycle meets. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built RollCall for a community that is protective of its spots and its privacy — and we handle your data accordingly. We do not sell your personal information.
01 Who we are
RollCall ("RollCall," "we," "us," or "our") operates the RollCall mobile application and this website. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at support@tryrollcall.app.
02 Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address (or the identifier from a sign-in provider you choose), a username, and any profile details you add such as a display name, bio, or profile photo. This is the minimum needed to give you an account and let others recognize you in the scene.
Precise location
With your permission, we use your device's precise location to show you meets happening near you, sort events by distance, and let you check in when you arrive at a meet. Location access is opt-in — the app asks before it uses it, and you can turn it off at any time in your device settings. If you decline, you can still browse meets by choosing a city or area manually.
RollCall never displays your individual live location to other users or on a public map. We use your location only to power features for you — nearby results, distances, and check-ins. We do not broadcast where you are, and we never expose home locations.
Photos and content you post
When you upload photos of your build, tag a car, or post to the feed, we store that content so it can appear where you chose to share it. To protect you and everyone in a photo:
- EXIF location data is stripped from photos on upload, so the GPS coordinates embedded by your camera are not stored or shared.
- Visible license plates are automatically blurred using automated detection before a photo is published, to keep plates out of public posts.
Automated detection is not perfect. If a plate or other sensitive detail slips through, you can edit or delete the post, or report it to us and we will remove it.
Usage and device analytics
We collect basic analytics about how the app is used — screens viewed, features used, crash reports, and general device information like operating system and app version. This helps us fix bugs and improve the app. This data is tied to a pseudonymous identifier, not to sensitive personal details.
Communications
If you email us or contact support, we keep those messages so we can help you and follow up.
03 How we use your information
- To show you relevant meets near you and let you RSVP, check in, and get status updates.
- To power your garage, the feed, and social features like following organizers and crews.
- To reveal gated event locations to attendees who have RSVP'd, at the time the organizer sets.
- To keep RollCall safe — detecting abuse, enforcing our rules, blurring plates, and removing prohibited content.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the app, fix crashes, and understand which features matter.
- To communicate with you about your account, safety notices, and features you opted into.
04 How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited cases:
- Content you choose to make public — your username, profile, builds, and feed posts are visible to other users as you intend. Your precise location and private details are not.
- With event organizers — when you RSVP to a meet, the organizer can see that you're attending (for example your username and RSVP count), but not your live location or private data.
- Service providers — trusted vendors who host our servers, process payments for organizers, send notifications, or provide analytics, acting on our instructions under confidentiality obligations.
- Legal and safety — when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of RollCall, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers — if RollCall is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale, data may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
05 Your choices and rights
- Location — grant or revoke precise location access any time in your device settings.
- Content — edit or delete your posts, photos, and garage at any time.
- Access and deletion — request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account and associated personal data by emailing support@tryrollcall.app.
- Notifications — control push notifications in the app or your device settings.
- Regional rights — depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have additional rights to access, correct, port, or delete your data, and to object to certain processing. We honor these requests.
06 Data retention & security
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the app, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it.
We use industry-standard safeguards — encryption in transit, access controls, and secure infrastructure — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to keep yours safe.
07 Age requirement
RollCall is an adults-only app intended for users 18 and older. Some meets add further age or entry requirements (for example 21+) set by their organizers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will remove it.
08 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as RollCall evolves. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of RollCall after an update means you accept the revised policy.
